The Swaggerin' Growlers are a traditional Irish folk punk band based in
Dover, New Hampshire and Boston, Mass. Infusing the spirit and the tradition of
Irish session players with the fire, intensity, and heart of Boston Punk and
Hardcore, and tempered with the earnestness and soul of American Folk, TSG
have created an unforgetable musical juggernaut. Most often compared to the likes of the
Pogues, Flogging Molly, The Tossers and The Dropkick Murphy's, but creating
a sound all of their own, they stike to the heart of the New England music
scene with an unparalled fury.
Over the last two years since the upstart of the band, TSG has gigged
relentlessly, racking up 100+ shows in front of everyone from little kids
and their grandparents, to the Public House, to hordes of street punks,
while at the same time covering every New England state. Regardless of who was
in the crowd, the bands' reception has always been incredibly enthusiastic
to say the least, and more often than not...on the verge of total chaos. The
bands' undeniably high energy brand of Irish folkpunk takes the crowd from pulse
pounding, blast beat punk to heart felt, down tempo anthems and fight songs
and back again. It's been a great year so far and if crowd response is any
indication... the next year will see TSG continuing its' blitz of the New
England music scene, expanding it's reach to include the rest of North America.
Already in the final stages of production, TSG is are gearing up to release
their highly anticipated debut album, "The Bottle and the Bow", in February
of 2007. The Band has East and West coast Tours in the planning stages
following the release of the record. In addition, TSG has contributed a
track of to an upcoming Pogues Tribute album, a fiery rendition of the classic
"Sickbed of Cuchulainn", alongside of such other heavy hitting recording
artists such as the Street Dogs, The Tossers, and even a special appearance
by Shane MacGowan himself; Expected to be released sometime in 2007 on Ghetto
Rock Records.
