Poitín (or Poteen) is an Irish moonshine and may also refer to Irish Whiskey. (anglicized as putcheen) or formerly potheen. The term is a diminutive of the word pota 'a pot'; Poitín was traditionally distilled in a small pot.

Saint Poitin is the side project of veteren folkpunk outfit The Swaggerin' Growlers. Spearheaded by Annie and Jonny, after playing a rowdy 40 person strong singalong set at houseparty in South Boston, they wanted to make a return to the pub and play the music that has inspired them and countless others over the years. Between the two of them, they've got well over 20 years of performance experience, spanning from playing in front of hundreds of people to various sessions in both New England and Washington.

Currently they are working on releasing their first full length in the spring of 2007 as well as regional touring.
